Hey, Look! A New Blog Post!...

I realized after posting my last that I forgot one very important label! I covered nerds, geeks, and dweebs, but I never once mentioned...DORKS.

In case you were wondering, a dork is a nerd, geek, or neek who has one very distinct personality trait: Pure, unadulterated social awkwardness. These people can barely function in a room with other humans. They just don't know how to handle themselves. They become so self-conscious, they just start talking. This is NOT a good idea, because they start really awkward, one-sided conversations that make everyone and anyone else around them even more uncomfortable than before. Things like:

"I'm just waiting here for my friend." **Long pause, no eye contact.**

"Her name is Sheila." **Another long pause. More careful avoidance of eye contact.**

"She's just gone to make a phone call." **Maybe a noncommittal nod, but still no verbal response and you are probably trying to turn and walk away at this point.

Then:  "I'm sure she'll be back soon. She's been gone for a while though. I wonder where she's gone?"

Everyone knows that there are only two possibilities here: 1) "Sheila" does not actually exist. The dork in this situation has made her up in order to NOT look like such a loser, standing all alone. 2) Sheila is real, but she has just used the dork for carpooling, and has no intention of coming back anytime soon. Not until she's completely sure she can't hitchhike to get home.

Hope that's cleared some things up. For the record, a lot of Crazy Cat Ladies started out as dorks.

I finished a cute little scarf a few weeks ago. I still have no idea what I'm going to do with it. It's not really practical for keeping warm in the winter. It's more of a "decorative scarf"--something you could wear in the Spring and Fall as an accessory. That...is really not my style. I barely wear any jewelry. I wear my wedding ring, and I have about 5 or 6 necklaces that I alternate wearing at various times and occasions. No decorative scarves. So if you know of anyone who wants a light-green, leafy-patterned scarf, just let me know.

The shawl I'm currently working on is a pattern I found a long time ago and always wanted to try. Now I finally have the yarn for it, so I dove in and it's about halfway done. I'll have to post pictures when I finish. It's going to be fabulous, just wait and see. You'll all be totally jealous and want one just like it.

Tomorrow is my first lab for my Audiology class. It's going to be in the morning, and as my classes usually go until 6 PM, I plan to skip classes tomorrow. There is no way I'm going to have a day where I leave the house before 9 AM and don't get home until 7 PM. It's crazy. But the lab should be cool, I get to play with an otoscope and a tympanometer! Rock on!

Okay, I'm getting really sleepy for some reason, and my writing skills are seriously impaired at the moment. I'll try to be more lucid during my next post. Or something like that...
